While it is usually Carrie’s wardrobe and shoe collection that inspire feelings of envy amongst Sex and the City fans, her chic New York apartment is just as desirable. One of the most unique furnishings seen in the sequel is the Hallings Secretary, from Hickory Chair. This versatile piece was created by renowned New York designer Thomas O’Brien. No longer in production, the Hallings Secretary is now a rare commodity, and Laura Kincade was able to secure one of the last produced! It is available now for $11,700.
Here the Halling’s Secretary is set up as a desk.
As striking open as it is closed; the spare lines of this sophisticated secretary recall the chic style of a 1940’s French design. The understated case is raised by a subtle saber leg, topped by a discreet hinged compartment and finished in antique ivory. The secretary’s interior is executed in richly toned kingwood with a classic finish interior and is outfitted with a variety of drawers, round ring pulls, Hepplewhite knobs and a leather-insert desktop.
A perfect space for Carrie to write.
Imagine this in your home…

It is easy to sense the difference between rooms that are relaxing, cosy and comfortable, and those that feel impersonal and harsh. While many elements go into creating the ambiance of a room, lighting is one of the crucial aspects. Over-illumination instantly detracts from a room’s atmosphere; the key to striking the balance of brightness is the strategic use of lamps.
When placed correctly, table and floor lamps generate a feeling of intimacy, even in large rooms. Pools of light can be used to create the illusion of distinct spaces, or to draw attention to a focal point. The new Visual Comfort collection is filled with lamps that will complement a wide range of styles, and enhance any room’s ambiance.
The Bristol Floor Lamp is pictured in Gilded, Aged Iron and Burnished Silver Leaf, all have a linen shade. The lamp is 165cm tall, perfect next to a reading chair.
